February Stamp Club

We are back into Stamp Club with a gusto. With a short month this next round came up quickly. Our challenge for this month was to create a recipe card. As it was my turn to hostess I decided to make it the recipe for the sticky date puddings that I took for supper. I have actually been in the process of sorting my recipes to create a box with all my favourites and had purchased a retiring stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps to do it. This gave me the starting point combined with a favourite colour combo {early espresso seems to be my new chocolate chip}. The cupcake finished it off. It is a good thing I like my handwriting because our printer needs new ink! Gives it an extra personal touch

FYI: The dessert was very tasty and stamp club was lots of fun as usual. Looking forward to getting the goodies I ordered and having a play.

Colour: very vanilla, certainly celery, early espresso
Stamps: rough type (SU), recipe card blocks (CDS), hey cupcake (elzybells)
Finishing touches: certainly celery DSP and scallop square punch (SU), apron lace punch (fiskars)

Always jump at the chance to do girls cards

The inspiration for this one came from a dress that I saw on a gorgeous little girl so when I found the chance to make a card for a birthday coming up I had the perfect starter. I was going to do it all pink as she loves pink but added a little of the green when I coloured the turtle. A little sparkle finished it off.

Colours: pink pirouette, certainly celery and white
Stamps: lily at the beach (pink cat studio), big and little pieces (SU)
Finishing touches: with love borders embossing folders (cuttlebug), rhinestones, pink stitched ribbon, silver embossing powder

Inspired again

Something special for a good friend who shares my birthday week. The inspiration comes from a course that I found on Big Picture Scrapbooking called Embrace Life (more to come on this one later). After watching the slide show I was inspired by the kite on the page that was used in the demo. I have had the fabric strips sitting in my stash for ages and thought they would work perfectly. And they did. The colour came from there. I love to stitch and actually got out the cotton for a change instead of my faux stitching. Loved how it turned out.

Colours: rich razzleberry, very vanilla, tangerine tango and rose red
Stamps: whimsical words (SU)
Finishing touches: distress ink pumice stone (tim holtz), linen thread, fabrix flowers of steel (GinX) cotton, mat pack, button, distressing tool

Love coordinating papers

With lots of birthdays in the next few months the creative juicies have to start flowing early. This card is for a teenage nephew. It started out with the sheet music stamp from Kaiser as he is into music. I had seen a card using circles that were cut from patterned papers at kristina werner design blog and pulled out a current fav praire lane from Kaiser. I am starting to get into distressing. The more you do the more you learn.

Colour: baja breeze, early espresso, not quite navy
Stamps: lily and billy accessories (pink cat studio), sheet music (kaiser)
Finishing touches: large corner rounder (fiskars), 1" circle punch and colour spritzer tool (SU), praire lane paper collection (Kaiser)

When I found my desk I did get a chance to make something

Despite the best efforts to get into my craft space I have only managed to scratch out a little bit of time. But what I have had has been great and all the other things including Christmas, family time and renovations have been well worth it.

I have been wanting to ink up my Hey Cupcake set from Elzybells(they had a closing down sale a while back) and had the perfect opportunity when my son went to a birthday party for a friend at school. Cupcakes seem to lend themselves to glitter and this set is no exception. I had a go at making a boys version while I had the gear out and was pleased with the end result. So many possibilities.

Colours: pink pirouette, baja breeze, early espresso. white and basic grey, early espresso and wild wasabi
Stamps: hey cupcake (elzybells), all year fun (SU)
Finishing touches: buttons, ribbon, faux stitching, dazzling diamonds (SU), pink glitter
