10 + 10 + 10 Challenge at Big Picture Classes

Quite a challenge for someone who uses mostly stamps and papers and punches.  But that's the idea of a challenge.  It gets you out of your comfort zone and pushes you to try something.  You never know you just might discover something you really like.

I love this photo of Riley my youngest.  All the boys have a page with such a photo from their kindy.  It was perfect for the challenge.

Who said male cards had to be hard?

With a birthday present all set I had managed to forget about the card.  I usually have cards that I can pull at the last minute but this birthday was a good friend of my oldest son so he wanted it to be special.  With only a little time I decided it was a good opportunity to try out some new goodies that I had bought at the new craft store in town Craft Haven.

Add a bit of splatter and fun stitching and the card came together in a snap.  Don't be afraid to mix up your supplies.  Whenever I am purchasing new things I look out for things that will work with what I already have.  Male cards seem to be one that puts people off.  With the right colour combo and the basics they can be fun.

Colours:  white, not quite navy, pumpkin pie, so saffron

Stamps:  grunge me and game on (PTI)

Finishing touches:  paper shapers speech bubble punch (EK), washi tape, hello die (PTI)

Hello

Such a cute set needed to be played with. Love being able to put something together to brighten someones day. What started as an idea from something I had seen, ended quite differently as I played with different elements. 

Colours: crumb cake, rose red, so saffron, night of navy
Stamps: hello and  background basics herringbone (PTI)
Finishing touches: paper (SU), die frame (amy tangerine), button, hello die (PTI), denim bakers twine (the twinery)
  

Happiness is.....

Sometimes great things come when you least expect it.  I had been making a card that took some time to put together  {that's what happens when I get a little rusty from not crafting in a while}.  While I was putting things away I came across the stray patterned paper and decided to make another.  With a bit added here and there as I went it came together quickly.  The quote reads 'Now and then it is good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.' Guillaume Apollinaire.  I have been thinking and talking about this of late.  See this post for more on my thoughts

Male Card - Happy trails

March is birthday month for us.  We have two in our house and several in the rest of the family.  This card is for my wonderful husband.  I got the idea from a shirt that he has.  It didn't quite turn out how I had planned, so I will go back to the drawing board with that one.  Adding different elements made it come together.  I love the elements in the Happy Trails set from Papertrey. I'm enjoying playing with my new goodies.

Colours:  handsome hunter, white, black
Stamps:happy trails and just the ticket (PTI), grid background (kaiser)
Finishing touches:  just the ticket border and happy trails dies, white and black embossing powder, charcoal bakers twine (the twinery)

Where being deliberate meets intention

Right back here I mentioned wanting to get my youngest's album complete.  So with my good intentions I have had to be more deliberate in actually getting it done.  Back in January I took the album away on holiday with a bunch of papers and bits and pieces that I had already used.  I was amazed that I had enough to put together at least 12 more pages.  While I was away I laid down the basic structure for the pages and with school starting didn't get to do more.  Until.........  a good friend and I made the date for getting together to scrap {like we had intended to for some time - you know how it goes}.  And I got on to finishing them with titles and journalling.  Yah!  So the next stage is getting the rest of the photos I need printed so I can finish it.

What about you?  Is there a project that you have been intending to finish or maybe start?  Sometime things seem much bigger than they are so we end up not doing anything.  Get it out, break it down into chunks and do one thing that gets you started.  You actually already did the first thing {getting it out}. Keep doing one more thing and before you know it you'll be done.

Stamps all in a row

Where have I got to? It is safe to assume that I have been sorting again.  My birthday pressie was stamps from Papertrey Ink and I have been pondering what to do with my growing collection.  With cleaning out and organising our CD, DVD and video {yes we still had one} , I decided to steal away the rimu tower that we had CD's in gathering dust and use it for a much better purpose.  The Papertrey Ink stamps are already in CD cases and I have transferred a number of other clear stamps as well.  With just a few more spaces to fill it is probably a good thing that they have changed their storage to DVD cases.  So much happier now I can access all my stamps.  I keep  all my other stamps in a set of plastic drawers.  You can see them in this post under the desk
