Stamp Club Challenge - April

With Mother's Day approaching the challenge for this month was to inspire with a Mother's Day card.

My last order arrived with goodies from the Sale-a-bration so I decided to use them to have a play for this challenge.  A little bit different.  A lot of fun.

Colours:  old olive, not quite navy, tangerine tango, white
Stamps: lots of thoughts (SU), hello (PTI)
Finishing Touches: hello die and hexagon die cover plate (PTI), DSP, ribbon and button - sycamore street and scallop square punch (SU), stitching, washi tape.

Scrappin Patch April Challenge

The challenge for this month at Scrappin Patch is using a sketch from Page Maps.

I have had these photos for some time.  I had put together a kit with different summer/beach themed papers and embellishments.  The photo fit well with the story behind the quote 'there is never enough time to do all the nothing you want'  I love the 7gyspies page stickers.  They add the extra little details that you need to finish of the page without overdoing it.  I am looking forward to getting all the photos from this holiday scrapped.  Sometimes it just takes a bit to get started.

Challenge Me Happy #43

I went looking for a challenge and found one at Challenge Me Happy.

My pages usually start with a photo.  Being out numbered by boys I dug into my photos.  Nice to do something girly for a change.  Once I had gathered up the bits and pieces I thought I would use, I started laying down the layers that I wanted.  The fun was in putting together the embellishments.  I especially enjoyed getting back to stitching on my layouts.

I often think that 'if I only knew in the past what I know now'.  An important reminder.  Whoever you are be you.

Dear Lizzy

A big thanks to my big sister who went halves in this great set of papers  from Elizabeth KartchnerDear Lizzy: 5th and Frolic.  I decided to have a play and make a set of cards to add to my stash.  I love doing something girly for a change from the boy zone that we have going on at our place.  It was the perfect go to for a baby shower that I am going to.  I added a sentiment and it was ready to go with the goodies for the mum to be.

Colours:  sahara sand, baja breeze, pink pirouette
Stamps:  n/a
Finishing touches: seam binding ribbon, basic pearls and flower trim (SU), stitching

CASEing my ideas book

With lots of birthday's in March my stash of cards needs topping up. I have a collection of my favourites from catalogues and magazines that I often use for inspiration.

This one is almost an exact replica from a sample in the Stampin Up Ideas Catalogue.  I have heard it said that it is hard to copy something when you don't have all the same supplies or tools.  That is a lot of the challenge for me.  How much I can recreate using what I have.  Sometimes it is just the colour combo or the layout and other times I substitute the images.
Colours:  old olive, chocolate chip, bashful blue, white, cherry cobbler
Stamps: wise owl (PTI), lots of spots (CDS)
Finishing touches:  circle cutters (CM), brad, grosgrain ribbon and spiral punch (SU)

Here is another idea from the Stampin Up Ideas Catalogue.  I had a similar stamp and changed out the colours a little.
Colours:  baja breeze, cherry cobbler, not quite navy, white
Stamps:  itty bitty bits (SU), stylish sentiments - birthday(PTI)
Finishing touches: circle punches (SU), ribbon

Sign Inspiration

I get a lot of inspiration from signs, especially when it comes to male cards.  I use both colours and design to put together cards.  The words from stylish sentiments - birthday from Papertrey Ink worked really well to give the different wording.

Colours: pumpkin pie, white, black
Stamps: stylish sentiments and vintage labels (PTI), itty bitty banners (SU)
Finishing touches:  bitty banners framelits die (SU), black and apricot embossing powder

As we wind up the birthday's for the year in our house (yes all 6 of us have our birthdays over these last four months), the last is my oldest son who is turning 11.  He is doing well with his piano lessons so when I saw this card on Pinterest by Holly McMillan for Stamp Simply Ribbon Store,  I had to have a go at making one for him.  A shame it isn't linked to the original post.  I can see the importance of having a watermark on photos and why it is important to pin images correctly so they link to the post that they are in. To pin -  be sure you have clicked on the post title before pinning.  This links it back directly to the post and not the image or the blog home page.

Colours: baja breeze, early espresso, white, black
Stamps: sheet music (kaiser), God's gift (elzybells)
Finishing touches: corner rounder (SU), distressing tool (TH), victorian rectangle die (couture creations ), buttons
